To allow speedy transcription, these entries just contain the basic information found in the death entry. To get the complete entry, you will need to view the transcribed paper on the date noted. Currently,
these is no free online archive available for these papers since being removed from Google News Archive. You can also search
for the individual in a few burial indexes by viewing the records details and selecting "Search For This Burial."
Some individuals may have multiple entries, as I entered every entry for every paper as it was printed. This may mean there are multiple, exact copies and this may also mean that things are spelled differently
on different days. I only corrected entries when I found a clearer version that corrected previously hard-to-read information.
I also added deaths from other articles and obituaries that I happened to see while browsing (apart from the normal obits and death notices near the classifieds.) I tried to keep these to deaths
to the Milwaukee (and closely surrounding) area only.
Helpful Tips:
- Some archives were not scanned very well and are hard to read. If you see double question marks in a transcription, that usually means there are multiple (at least 2) letters that I could not transcribe.
- You can filter the table by entry year by clicking on one of the listed years. The number after the year is how many entries are listed for that year.
- The main table allows you to filter the listings by using the "Filter" box on the top-right. You can also sort by the column by clicking on the column header. Paging links are at the bottom of the table.
- A checkmark icon after the "View Details" link means that there is a link to a burial record available at a burial index site (e.g., Find-A-Grave, BillonGraves.)
- The text in the "Notes" field is usually related to where the entry was found in the paper. The most popular entries here are: Front page, Jottings About Town, and General City News
- Front page is pretty self-explanatory
- Jottings About Town is a column of small paragraphs, usually located on the last page, though sometimes the front page.
- General City News is a column of small paragraphs, usually located on the front page, though sometimes on a later page.
